And less than an hour from the city of lucca and the pisa airport.
located in the small hamlet of olivola, once seat of the medieval castle, the property retains much of charm of the past including part of castle tower and original stones of the historic settlement.

1 bedroom apartment: * ground floor : an antique chestnut door opens into a living/dining room (surface 30 m2). A large table can accommodate up to 8 people and a sofa bed provides accommodation for 2 guests with the convenience of a tiled bathroom with shower, wc, bidet, washbasin (5 m2). A custom designed kitchen with marble work surfaces and ancient marble sink, it is supplied with an hob, microwave, large fridge with freezer top, kettle, percolator, table and chairs (12 m2), a cosy sitting room features original part exposed stone wall and is furnished with sofa fire place and wooden stairs lead to upper floor. * first floor : main double bedroom (2 m2), upon request can be added a single bed for one child or third person.
the 1-bedroom apartment can be extended to another romantic double bedroom (16 m2), with adjacent tiled bathroom with bath, wc, bidet, washbasin (6 m2) and a panoramic terrace (34 m2)
the sunny courtyard provides a picturesque area to enjoy 'al fresco' dining and is equipped with sun recliners to relax
the garden is equipped with table and chairs to relax with a good book or dining out.

olivola yet only five minutes drive from the village of serricciolo with a selection of facilities including restaurant, bar, grocery shop, chemistry and post office.
the nearby coast is heavenly, (known as the gulf of poets) as shelly, lord byron and d.h. Lawrence all have lived here at some time. It has opportunities for sailing, canoeing, snorkelling or just relaxing on one of the beaches hidden in craggy bays around fiascherino or tellaro. The easiest way to get around the gulf is by ferryboat, which runs between lerici, la spezia and portovenere or on to the cinque terre (five villages strung along terraced cliffs looking out to the sea
there is an excellent open air olympic size swimming pool in villafranca with high diving board, water fountains, children's pools and a large lawned picnic area naturally shaded by chestnut trees and equipped with bbq's. This facility is 20 minutes drive from the house.
lunigiana can be classed as one of the most untouched rural areas in the whole of italy, with a wide choice of woodland, mountains, valleys, rivers, lakes, streams and medieval hamlets. A truly unforgettable experience!
alternatively you can hire quad bikes to explore the old tracks and trails. There is a tennis club in quercia and in villafranca with indoor and outdoor courts. The nearest ski resort is zeri 1hrs drive. Nearest golf coarse is at lerici 45min. Botanical gardens 30min.
