The first floor gite adjoins our old french farmhouse, is accessed by its own outside staircase and is completely renovated whilst retaining old beams and original timbers. It comprises 2 bedrooms; one double with en-suite access to the bathroom, and one twin-bedded. The bathroom has shower, wash basin and wc. The large living area is open-plan with a modern kitchen comprising gas cooker, fridge-freezer, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, kettle and all the usual cooking utensils; a dining area for up to 10 people and a comfortable sitting area dominated by the original chimney breast which houses a wood-burning stove. All rooms have electric radiators. There is a large double bed settee, video player and radio cassette cd player. Outside is a private patio, with table and chairs and a bbq, facing the magnificent 11 metre by 6 metre heated swimming pool. There are large poolside terraces with sun loungers, tables and chairs and natural shade from lovely old trees. This is a very peaceful place but within 15 minutes drive there are all amenities. The beautiful timbered medieval town of mirepoix has a bustling and colourful market every monday, where you can buy just about anything. The french markets are a unique experience and there is one being held every day of the week in a town not too far away. The magical medieval city of carcassonne is half an hour away and a must to visit. Local festivals, village fetes, good cheap restaurants, locally produced wine, cathar castles, breathtaking scenery and a leisurely pace of life; no wonder the local people live to such a ripe old age. For the more energetic there is white-water rafting, tennis, golf, horse riding, mountain biking, karting and wonderful walks nearby attractions: bicycling, bike rentals, boat rentals/charters, canoeing, casino, fishing, hiking/biking trails, horseback riding, jet skiing, kayaking, park, sailing, ski shuttle, skiing - snow, skiing - water, tennis court, white water rafting, wind surfing,
